BROWNSBURG, Ind. – Leading Edge Grand Prix is proud to announce that Max Hanratty will be teaming with us in his rookie season, competing in the 2017 Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires. With two seasons of USF2000 under his belt, Hanratty is more than eager to take the next step on the Mazda Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires.

I am excited to be joining Leading Edge Grand Prix (LEGP) for the 2017 Pro Mazda season. The LEGP crew have been in the racing industry for over 20 years and I have confidence in their ability to provide a car capable of winning races. Racing in USF2000 and IMSA with the Prototype Lites series, I feel confident in my ability to adapt to the new car. Andersen Promotions has done an incredible job with the Mazda Road to Indy program providing a path and scholarship system. There’s a lot on the line and I’m grateful to be able to compete for it. I want to thank my sponsor SynerComm Inc and John Lewis (Managing Director) for giving me this opportunity.” - Max Hanratty

Leading Edge Grand Prix's Managing Director, John Lewis, is ready to provide the type of support the Wisconsin native needs to successfully attack the coming season.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Max Hanratty to our team in 2017. Max has shown great promise in USF2000 and IMSA Prototype Lites and we expect some tremendous things from Max in Pro Mazda this season. Leading Edge Grand Prix will give Max every avenue of support to enable him to have every opportunity to win the championship.” - John Lewis (Managing Director)

Max began his racing career in August of 2012 with a graduation gift of a Skip Barber Racing School at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI. He caught the racing bug and continued to compete in the Skip Barber Winter Series. In 2013 and 2014 Max spent time in Canada with the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship and Formula Tour 1600 returning to the United States in 2015 to compete in the USF2000 series. He continued with USF200 for a partial season in 2016 adding the IMSA Prototype Lites full season to his resume. When Max isn’t on the track he enjoys following various sports teams like the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Buck and Marquette Golden Eagles.

With Hanratty’s signing, Leading Edge Grand Prix is on its way to their plan of entering three cars for the upcoming season. After a successful year in 2016 in the USF4 Championship, which saw the team sweep the first three races of the season and finish the season in second place, Leading Edge Grand Prix will switch to the Pro Mazda Championship for 2017 providing its own in-house step to the popular Mazda Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires. Pro Mazda will distribute over $1.1 million in prizes and awards in 2017. Mazda is generously providing $790,300 for the series champion to advance to Indy Lights in 2018. The top-three finishers also receive a one day Indy Lights test.

We are excited about this season in Pro Mazda and being part of the Mazda Road to Indy (MRTI) ladder. Pro Mazda provides without a doubt, the best bang for the buck of any junior open-wheel series in existence today. Where else can you win more than twice what it costs you to race? It’s a pretty phenomenal deal. Dan Andersen and his team have done a tremendous job with the MRTI.” - John Lewis(Managing Director)
