This will be Tristan Vautier's second season of Star Mazda Championship competition; in 2010, driving for another team, he won two races, including the season-opener at Sebring, scored three podiums, five top-5 finishes, ten top-10s and finished 5th in the championship.  He came to the Star Mazda Championship with experience in the FIA Formula Two Championship and Formula Palmer Audi where he finished 4th in the 2009 championship.  In 2008, he was the runner-up in the French Championship in Formula Renault 2.0 and in 2007 he placed fifth in the Formula Renault 2.0 Championship.  He was runner-up in the French Championship of Formula Campus in 2006 and was nominated for the Espoirs de l'Année Echappement (the French equivalent of the BRDC Rising Stars) award.  He began his career karting from 2001 to 2004, earning two championships in the Rhône-Alpes League.  He is a college student, fluent in French and English and enjoys all types of sports, especially fitness training, racing cycles and mountain bikes, running and cross-country skiing.  He was born August 22, 1989 in Saint-Martin-d'Hères, Isère, France and currently lives in Corenc, France.
