Walt Bowlin, an oral surgeon with a doctorate from Loyola, is a returning competitor in the new Star Mazda Championship Expert Series for drivers 30 and older (Note: there were formerly two classes, Expert for drivers 30-44 and Master for drivers 45 and older, but they have been combined into a single class for 2011).  Bowlin previously competed in the Master Series, running in eight races in 2009, scoring six in-class top-3 finishes and finishing third in the Master Series Championship.  He ran six races in 2010, scoring two in-class top-3 finishes.  His hobbies include race cars, golf and motorcycles.  His racing heroes are Mario Andretti and Michael Schumacher.  He was born January 23, 1963 in Richmond, Kentucky and lives in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
